ef. On 10 April the Parliament of the Canton Geneva had remitted a motion for a moratorium on 5G antennas in canton areas with 58 to 28 votes. Therefore, no 5G-Mobile Radio antennas will be built in the Canton of Geneva at the moment.
The moratorium will be lifted when independently researched results dealing with possible health damage from 5G are published. In addition, the Parliament of the Canton wants to know about the effects on animals.
The Canton of Jura has also stopped the construction of 5G antennae. The cantonal government decided on 16 April to wait for the results of a study, with regards to the impact on health, by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). Furthermore, the government of Canton Waadt is checking on the question. In Canton Freiburg, there is an advance for requesting a moratorium from the SP. The Green Party of Canton Neuenburg, requests a cantonal initiative to hand in a moratorium.
Preceding these actions was the announcement of Swisscom to extend it’s 5G Network Switzerland-wide. In February, the 5G frequencies were auctioned for CHF 380 million. •
