The Hungarian Community for Peace ensures the Hungarian government’s peace policy with its support and rejects the European Union’s boycott policy against Hungary, the president of the Peace Community Endre Simó announced on Wednesday.
“We consider it unacceptable how the EU leadership disregards the will of the European peoples for peace and sabotages Hungary’s consecutive presidency because our country refuses to participate in the war against Russia,” Endre Simó stated.
“We ask the government of Viktor Orbán to remain calm and to represent its commitment to the East-West compromise even more firmly than before. No one can have any doubt that not only the vast majority of the Hungarian people want a compromise with a mutual guarantee of security, but also the majority of other European peoples. History will pass judgment on those who only mean their own security by security, but refuse to acknowledge Russia’s legitimate security demands,” said Simó.
The president of the Peace Community reminded the government that Hungary’s peace and security should be guaranteed by a separate agreement with the Russians if the EU and NATO were still unwilling to recognize the legitimacy of Moscow’s security demands. •
