Armed neutrality

It has become clear that the American military bases, which were supposed to protect the Gulf states, were in fact the greatest threat to them. These military bases were precisely the reason why they were bombed. If Switzerland does not stay neutral and associates with the NATO, it will become a party of war, as was unfortunately already demonstrated by the Buergenstock Conference. NATO led the international military intervention in Afghanistan for 18 years, alongside military war activities in Yugoslavia, Libya and Iraq. The last interest for us, the Swiss population, is to be dragged into Europe’s wars. We need armed neutrality and a well-equipped army. We do not want a “new kind” of insecure neutrality that changes with the wind. It is therefore necessary to set clear guidelines for the Federal Council and to enshrine armed neutrality in the Constitution, as called for by the Neutrality Initiative.
